The Moth Regeneration
The photo of the moth in my last post got more comments than I've ever received on any one post... Thanks, everyone! At the suggestion of my bro-in-law and fellow photog, I took the image back into Photoshop and tried to "complete" it by cloning in the tips of the feet and antenna, as well as the surrounding concrete. It was not easy, and not really fun, but I am excited at how it turned out! (Most of my photo editing experiences thus far can be characterized by this sentiment.) I've reposted the original photo below so that they are easy to compare. Please let me know what you think!

Weekend in Berea
Last weekend we went to Berea, KY, with Eric's parents and brother and sister-in-law. Berea is a very neat place known for the folk arts and Appalachian culture that are alive in the town. The first few photos I took were of some interesting insects we saw outside the Artisan Center.
We watched a shop owner weave a beautiful blue tapestry on a huge loom. He uses the shuttle to push the threads through from one side to the other, then he tightens the thread in place with various combinations of the battens, which dictate the pattern.
Another shop owner showed us how spins a julep cup. It starts as a round pewter disk that looks like a mirror, and while it is spinning it is pushed out into shape.
Smoothing down the lip.
We also stayed at a beautiful B&B called The Doctor's Inn. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures. I still have trouble trying to maintain balance between photography and family time. :) It was a fantastic weekend!
